WHITEWATER RAFT TRIPS
Geo Tours is currently seeking raft guides and others of all experience levels for full and part time positions. We have been in business under the same owner for three decades on the Front Range, have top of the line equipment and operate on three different rivers in Colorado from part day up to five day trips. Guides with qualifying experience get the the opportunity to raft on 6 different sections on three different rivers (Arkansas, Clear Creek & Upper Colorado). No burnout from running the same line on the same river every day all summer.
For those thinking it might be fun to learn how to get yourself and a group of guests down a river on a piece of rubber with two lbs of air in it and some sticks in your hands, well, our raft guide training begins on May 23rd, will last for approximately two weeks and will incorporate time off for Memorial Day.
Completion of this course will meet and exceed state requirements for a Commercial Raft Guide. The following topics are covered:
Rigging & Required Equipment
- Rapids & their Causes
- Crisis Management & River Rescue
- Maneuvering Rafts
- River Hazards
- Scouting & Running Rapids
- Minimizing Resource Impacts (Leave No Trace)
- Commercial Driving Responsibilities
- Min. 50 hrs. on river training including: Clear Creek, Upper Colorado River and Arkansas
Anticipate some overnight camping on the river.
Cost: $450/participant
Includes: Equipment, instruction, wetsuits rental, transportation and some meals. 50% deposit by mid May to reserve spot. Maximum attendance is 12 people. Instructor to trainee ratio approximately 6:1, minimum age 18, prefer 21 and over. CPR and first aid required (available at an additional charge) with good driving record.Next training session will be May 23rd, 2011.
